Australia and New Zealand 2024 – Day Twenty-Seven

Day  Twenty-seven,  December 13, 2024 – Queenstown to Rotorua, New Zealand

Today was a travel day with two more flights, so there were not many photos.

On many of the breakfast buffets Vegemite and Marmite are found.  Marmite and Vegemite are both yeast extract spread, are rich in Vitamin B complex and are often spread on toasted bread and are popular in Australia and Britain. Vegemite uses wheat and barley, and Marmite uses barley, oat and rye. One sniff of either of these will bring forth the memory of unflavored vitamins. We are not a fan of either.

We flew from Queenstown to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand and then on to Rotorua.  The airport in Wellington was all decked out for Christmas and there were very large eagles hanging from the ceiling. They are larger replicas of those used in the movie series Lord of the Rings, and Gandalf is even riding one of the eagles.

On the flight from Wellington to Rotorua, Mary caught a great shot of the Mount Ruapehu, which is the largest active volcano in New Zealand.
