Australia and New Zealand 2024 – Day Five

Day Five,  November 21, 2024 – Melbourne, Australia

We love markets, the kind of markets we do not see in the United States. So, in early morning we headed back to Queen Elizabeth Market. It was an interesting assortment of fish, meat, veggies, fruit, and anything else they can think of to sell. We continued exploring Melbourne’s very nice and impressive architecture and toured the excellent Melbourne Museum. This museum had extensive exhibits on aboriginal culture, the history of Melbourne, fossils of all kinds, and an indoor sort of rain forest that included a bowerbird.

Melbourne is very clean and easy to navigate. It is impressive that people can report trash and graffiti by scanning a QR code, and that all public toilets are free and super clean!

In early evening, we met up with our Trip Leader and fellow travelers to get oriented and prepared for the next four weeks!
